Railways to be largest green network by 2023-end: Goyal
Kolkata: In about three years from now, Indian Railways (IR) will attain total electrification, becoming the only rail network in the world to achieve this feat, railway minister Piyush Goyal said on Sunday. Given the extent of the IR network, it will become the world’s largest to run on electricity if this happens. Till now, about 40,000 route km have been electrified. This accounts for nearly 60 per cent of the total route km under IR.
